Washington, DC - October 10-13, 2016 (Open to 8th graders)


Pittsburgh, PA - November 7-11, 2016 (Open to 9th-12th Graders)Students will be involved in servant-driven evangelism through various mission projects in key neighborhoods and communities throughout Pittsburgh. Parent Information meeting will be on Tuesday, September 13 at 6 pm. For more information about the trip, click here.

Important Events

  • August 22 TONIGHT - Elementary Curriculum Night 5:30 pm (1st - 5th Grade ONLY, report to your student's classroom)
  • August 23 - Middle School Curriculum Night 5:30 pm
    6th grade will meet in rooms 3312/3314 on the 3rd floor
    7th grade will meet in Mr. Sander's room (3214)
    8th grade will meet in Ms. Griffin's room (3208)
  • August 25 - High School Curriculum Night 5:30 pm (Report to your student's first period class)
  • September 5 - Labor Day Holiday / No School
  • FLC is closed - Students will need to be picked up by 2:50 unless they are registered to go to AfterSchool/study hall. If they are not picked up by 3:00 pm, they will be sent to Afterschool/Study hall. Parents will be responsible for the charges.

Important Information

Carpool Requests

  1. Parent, Lanita Dancil, student is in 4th grade. Buckleigh Subdivision near Reedy Creek Park. Please call her if you are able to carpool at (cell) 347-423-3771 or (home) 980-819-9870.
  2. Parent, Rhonda Hughes, has 2 Elementary students. She needs help with carpooling 2-3 times a week for the months of Sept and Oct. She is willing to offer gas money. They live off of Harrisburg Road. Contact number is 518-528-9280.

For your convenience and ease of ordering, HGCS apparel has moved all spirit wear sales online! Apparel will no longer be sold in person at the school so be sure to order all of your spirit wear while the online shop is open. The apparel store is also available in the school app under "more".


Please ensure you place all orders by Wednesday September 7th at midnight. Orders will be individually packed and delivered to HGCS within 3 weeks of the store closing date.

Hickory Grove Family Life Center (FLC) Adjustment


The safety of our students is a priority for our school. Some of the new recreation changes directly affect our students as it relates to Afterschool care. Last year, students often utilized the FLC until parents could pick them up from school. That may not be an option for this year. Please note some of the items below as it relates to Afterschool care. 
  • Memberships available for HGBC members and staff, school staff, and staff families only 
  • Students 14 & older, who are church members, are able purchase a FLC membership
  • You must be 18 years of age and older to bring a guest to the FLC
  • Students in the FLC after school, who do not possess a membership, will be sent to the Afterschool Program (Parents responsible for the Afterschool Program charges)


In light of the changes in our culture and in an effort to ensure maximum safety, Hickory Grove has made the decision to provide Family Life Center access to church members, church and school employees, and their families only.   

This adjustment in FLC access will begin on Monday, August 15, which coincides with the start of a new school year.  For those affected individuals who have paid in advance, refunds will be issued on a prorated basis.
